Upon awakening, Richard discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Richard fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He leaves a trail of broken hearts and full pockets wherever he goes.
