History: Heian was born the youngest of three triplets. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Heian grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Heian. History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. He took after his father in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting illithids, the young Shivering began to lead the lost caravan. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: Someone believes him a fraud; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it
