It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Jane was raised in a hard working conservative environment. When she came of age, she joined a caravan that would eventually take her to the capital. She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Priest. She has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Priest.

Motivation: To be a Knight again; and she is unsatisfied with her job

Personality: He is a pretentious jerk insisting that modern society is full of problems and should revert to a simpler time. He feeds upon the attention of others.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He went to a religious school and was inspired by the priests there in charitable deeds. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: He possesses a valuable artifact that the thieves guild wishes to steal; and he has a rivalry with the church that dominates his actions

Description: A plain young-adult woman, she wears a tight fitting black shirt and pants. She has done her best to style her green crest to look like a famous performer. Her face is scarred and worn.

Personality: Quiet and reserved she prefers to listen than to talk. She will nod occasionally and communicate nonverbally. She is fiercely devoted to her mother, and views her mother's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating her from her legal half-sister.

History: She was born several months after her mother was called into army service. Brilliant and gifted she never wanted to apply herself. She was granted arcane powers by her dying sister.

Personality: She has a good heart but also a terrible temper. She will forgive often but not before yelling and berating someone for whatever they have done wrong. She is lazy, self-centered, vain, and jealous.

History: Trained by her father for as long as she can remember she had it drilled in her head that it was her duty to serve her country. Her family was turned out during the war. She and her family wandered west to less war torn lands. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: She will use flattery and sarcasm to attack and weaken her opponents. Despite her formidable combat skills she remains a coward. She will do just about anything if she becomes convinced it is for someone's true love, of this she is easily convinced.

History: Born in the south to a Stylist, Nora learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. A serious injury left her father unemployed and in need of constant care. Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm father. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Stylist for the past few years.

Motivation: To pay off her debts; and she would like to get married and retire

Description: She is a woman of bearing and well nourished. She wears a faded coat and loose pants complete with broad hat. Her hair is auburn, silky, and of moderate length. She is very pretty but has cold, dead eyes.

Personality: She can speak with the dead, and doesn't see much difference between the living and dead. She takes great pride in her work and is very well organized. Her planner is full of calendar events.

History: Her parents moved while she was still in utero so she is the first generation to be born here. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Miller.

Motivation: Wants to open a new tavern.

She dislikes loud distracting noises, but is overall hospitable. Her biggest love is that of knowledge and as such will purchase any books or pay to listen to tales that travelers might have.

History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. She was a friend to animals and a trickster. In her defense of animals however she would do severe harm to people. She is untrained/undisciplined, which makes her dangerous.

Personality: Confrontational and typically high on some drug or another. Rolf is a bit of a follower. Usually he is manipulated by his sisters into helping them out, but recently he has become more of a free agent.

History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Rolf grew up listening to his father's many stories. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered singing. He got away from his former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

Motivation: He wants to meet his childhood hero.
