History: The child of eastern immigrants he idolized his father. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Berrian grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Berrian. He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Spice Merchant.

History: Gifted from a young age, Vanuath studied abroad. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

Personality: He speaks before he thinks and is too direct. He is submissive, is generally bored by everything, but will take part in whatever people ask of him. He is by nature obliging.

History: Born to a Guard, his father struggled to pay the bills. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Guard they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Masseuse, and he later adopted a second son.

Motivation: Regain custody of his son.

History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. He married young, but lost his spouse to giants. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.

History: The child of southern immigrants he idolized his father. He was an apprentice working in his father's forge. He was always very intelligent and has formed a secret society of philosophers.

History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. Since her father passed away years ago, her mother had doted on her, and she came to think her herself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.
