Through the years after Vola was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Vola's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way north. She has since lost track of the people in her past.
