When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

Personality: While he is on the job, he is grim and serious. He understands how dangerous the world is and the need to stay safe. He is fiercely devoted to his mother, and views his mother's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating him from his legal half-brother.
History: The child of northern immigrants he idolized his mother. Emerald was a troubled youth. He spent his days as a hard laborer instead of attending school, and spent his evenings with numerous mobsters and gang members. Emerald decided he wanted neither the life of his mother nor that of the evil petty criminals he associated with. During his early adolescence, he took a sudden opportunity while working the docks and commandeered a vessel that was left unmanned. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.
