She was regularly beaten by her father, who blamed her for driving them apart. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.

When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Bowyer hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Fortune-teller they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Bowyer, and he later adopted a second daughter.
