History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered writing. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: She has a rivalry with the Church that dominates her actions; and balancing her hectic life and new brewer responsibilities is difficult
