He was preparing to flee to the east, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his father from journeying east to reunite his family. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. When Hugh reached his early adolescence his Half-Elf father passed away.
