His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Unemployed they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Barber, and he later adopted a second daughter.

Motivation: To find somewhere to settle down; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions
