Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Half-Elves in Katherine's homeland. Katherine decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. Through the years after Snagog was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Snagog's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: He is witty, but his monotone delivery comes off as unnerving He does suffer from mild PTSD, and the sight of illithids may trigger it at times.

History: Ahvain hails from a village terrorized by illithids. In his youth he was part of a gang. He got caught, but did not rat out his comrades and served his time in prison. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it.

In her 10th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Zanna alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He comes from a rich northern family. Being born in the north, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the north for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way south. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
