History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Hatae was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. As a very small child her family refused to pay dues to a local crime lord, who ordered them killed. Her father, a somewhat powerful mage sought to protect her and cast a teleportation spell that whisked her away. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the south. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. Recently a tribe of goblins attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls.
