History: The child of a Bookbinder, who enjoyed hunting, Mardnab was taken on many hunting expeditions. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Mardnab grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Mardnab. She has recently gotten a pet goose that steals things from people.

She was a general practitioner in the west for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way north. She has since lost track of the people in her past.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious western family, she was no stranger to responsibility. Skirt was a troubled youth. She spent her days as a hard laborer instead of attending school, and spent her evenings with numerous mobsters and gang members. Skirt decided she wanted neither the life of her mother nor that of the evil petty criminals she associated with. During her early adolescence, she took a sudden opportunity while working the docks and commandeered a vessel that was left unmanned.
