He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Shane and his spouse have recently divorced.

His partner is his best friend in the world. The two are very close despite being more or less each other's opposites. Further he is a bit of a stoner and is frequently out of it.
