History: He was born into a rich family. In his youth he was a Stableman, and wanted to be a champion fighter when he grew up. He saw the brutality and swore off his fighting aspirations, taking his younger sister on his back after seeing his parents die, and fled the country. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. He sought a place where he would be rewarded solely on the merits of his skills. This search led him directly into Ruler work with an outfit from a few towns over. Ruler work suited him well, and with each successful project, he earned more gold and more respect from his peers. He has worked as a Ruler like his mother before him.

History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. As a young child she wandered into the woods despite her father's warnings against it. Afterwards she claimed she had encountered brigands who tried to eat her hand. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.
