History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. As a young child she wandered into the woods despite her father's warnings against it. Afterwards she claimed she had encountered illithids who tried to eat her hand. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by illithids. Zanna was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the illithids.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and she desires to right it; and many illithids want her driven away

She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

History: Raymond lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Scribe and was forced into it by his family; and his relatives are trying to arrange a marriage
