He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He's since become an addict/alcoholic.

She would ruin relationships and cause injury. She was reprimanded several times before being given her current form and forced to learn humility.

Motivation: She possesses a valuable artifact that the thieves guild wishes to steal; and a rival would like her out of the picture

History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. He found a children's book about a Dragonborn Bard who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature crossbow.
