History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. In his 18th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Ratanák alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. After a long history of fighting, Ratanák and his spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge; and he seems to be bored by most things

History: Raised by wardens she was only a novice when goblins swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. In her 13th year, her parents were killed by a goblins raid, leaving Rosamund alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She got away from her former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by goblins, and she desires to right it; and wants to raise her children well

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Brewer responsibilities is difficult.

History: Born in the east to a Interpreter, Ellyjoybell learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. She became a Interpreter soon after.

History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. He inherited a moderately successful company from his father. Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Motivation: Money/treasure; and he has passion for adventuring and risk
