Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by orcs. Pennie was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the orcs.

History: Born in the south to a Cartwright, Cecily learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. From her teen years she was always beautiful and desirable, so people have always doted on her. In the meantime she has taken over work as a Cartwright and occasionally as a mercenary.

History: He was born on a small isolated farm. When the war came and ruined his parents he was left adrift. He was a hard man then and has only learned to fight more as time goes on. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: She comes from a rich northern family. She worked as a nervous Sage and found it very stressful. Some 7 years later her spouse died after the birth of her son. Heartbroken, Puyet never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her son whom she trained as her mother had trained her before.

History: He was born at the edge of vast island. Oppleby liked to wander the woods near his home when he was young, something he still likes to do at least once a week. He never liked modest clothing or shoes, so he would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and he developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Oppleby was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the illithids.

History: She was born into a rich family. In her 20th year, while out on a day-trip, she returned to find her hometown burning and destroyed. She found her mother impaled in their home, and her father beheaded. She saw the woman who walked out, and charged her in a blind rage. The woman easily evaded and defeated her, leaving her to live broken and terrified. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

Personality: He believes there is no problem he cannot solve with sufficient elbow grease and persistence, if it is the best or most economic solution matters not. He is used to getting what he wants. In part because he is a meticulous planner.

History: He was born in the south. Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, illithids burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying south to reunite his family. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Revenge; and many illithids want him driven away
