History: He was born at the edge of vast mountains. Rurik liked to wander the woods near his home when he was young, something he still likes to do at least once a week. He never liked modest clothing or shoes, so he would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and he developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to drow demanding more tribute than usual.

History: The child of western immigrants she idolized her father. Through the years after Ielenia was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Ielenia's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
