History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her father always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. As a young child she wandered into the woods despite her father's warnings against it. Afterwards she claimed she had encountered goblins who tried to eat her hand. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by goblins. Jillian was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the goblins.

History: Heir to a fortune, her parents put a great deal of effort into curing her disease. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother gained full cudstody. She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: His father raised him in a mountain cabin. His mother was a mechanic, and taught him how to fix just about anything. One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
