She was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Elven doctor. During her travels, Kansif and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Kansif discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Kansif fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.

When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Courier hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She is searching for what she claims is her rightful reward.
