He tries to control his temper but he can't always stop himself from what he feels what must be done. The war was a terrible time for him, and Balam does not often speak of it. When he does, he does so with a strained expression and tears in his eyes.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. He struck it rich when he found rare goods in large quantities. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: Bertram was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Warlock, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Warlock in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He found a children's book about a Human Warlock who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero.
