Ortegar's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. She has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Laborer. She hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his father's willingness to do anything to win.
