History: Born the oldest of a large religious eastern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. His mother was a soldier and died while he was still young. Rurik was left his mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He is untrained/undisciplined, which makes him dangerous.

The drow captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. At a young age both his parents were killed in an accident. His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.

Motivation: Gnomish compassion; and a rival would like him out of the picture
