She was a general practitioner in the west for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way east. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Cursed with vampirism at a very young age, Bucklal has worked very hard to control his curse. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
