His mother being the stubborn sort decided to stay and helped train him in pickaxe use. Being a Servant kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

History: Qualen hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. In his 13th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Qualen alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.
