History: She was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way south. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: His mother raised him in a mountain cabin. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Brewer they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Butcher, and he later adopted a second daughter.

Motivation: Nothing but the best is good enough for him; and doesn't want to be a butcher and was forced into it by his family
