History: He was born into a rich family. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

History: She was born several months after her father was called into army service. She was an adventurer many years ago and she formed a blood bond with her Gnomish companion (her 'brother'). During her travels, Mumpena and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Mumpena discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Mumpena fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.
