His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Through the years after Ella was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Ella's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Raam was born to in a poor docking district. He spent his early days working in the same smith shop his father was employed at, doing general labor. In his 18th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his father impaled in their home, and his mother beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.
