History: Volen hails from a village terrorized by brigands. While studying, she fell in love. They married and had a son. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

History: From birth she was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Mumpena grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. Personality: Prone to second guessing himself, he comes off as nervous. His respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to him, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, he tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in his reactions to snap at those who irritate him, Tharivol is combative with any and all who dare try his patience in the slightest.

History: A child with a great deal of writing talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
