In his 13th year, his parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Skog alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He got away from his former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

She modeled her life after the story, seeing herself destined a hero. Lacking all sense, she decided to go on an adventure. She picked a direction and started trekking.
