History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He took after his father in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting illithids, the young Miles began to lead the lost caravan. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: He wants revenge against illithids; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it

History: She comes from a rich northern family. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Bolhild grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Bolhild. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Carter for the past few years.

History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her mother always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Her spouse left her for another, whom she beat to an almost bloody pulp. She did not win them back, but she came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. After a long history of fighting, Leshanna and her spouse have recently divorced.

History: She was born in a small mountains village. She became part of the deadliest team of assassins in recent memory. A botched job caused the group to be disbanded. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.
