History: The child of northern immigrants she idolized her mother. Her mother was very strict, and drilled into her lessons on being the perfect lady. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by gnolls. Nella was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the gnolls.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by gnolls, and she desires to right it; and many gnolls want her driven away

History: Born in the south to a Animal Trainer, Thiala learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Thiala grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Thiala. After a long history of fighting, Thiala and her spouse have recently divorced.

During her travels, Xanaphia and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Xanaphia discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Xanaphia fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.
