History: She was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered dancing. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Gerald was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the dire rats.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it
