He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He struck the Bounty Hunter job and began his own company from there.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and he feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world
