History: Efferil lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Mason they were divorced and he won custody of their daughter. He worked as a Navigator, and he later adopted a second daughter.

History: She was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. In her youth she was a Painter, and wanted to be a champion fighter when she grew up. She was working during a period of war, and as one of the natives she lived in fear of joining the others in being slaughtered. She saw the brutality and swore off her fighting aspirations, taking her younger sister on her back after seeing her parents die, and fled the country. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
