It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Vanuath hails from a village terrorized by goblins. In his 18th year, his parents were killed by a goblins raid, leaving Vanuath alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
