She was an adventurer many years ago and she formed a blood bond with her Dwarven companion (her 'brother'). She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. Her parents enrolled her in a Commoner school at a young age so that she could practice her psionic talents. Some 8 years later her spouse died after the birth of her daughter. Heartbroken, Syllin never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her daughter whom she trained as her father had trained her before.
