To get what you want from life, you must take it. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Bricklayer. He found several beat up suits of armor and, cannibalizing spare parts, he put together a working one.
