History: He was born at the edge of vast island. In his 12th year, his parents were killed by a illithids raid, leaving Umpen alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: Ar-Baruk lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. As a very small child his family refused to pay dues to a local crime lord, who ordered them killed. His father, a somewhat powerful mage sought to protect him and cast a teleportation spell that whisked him away.
