Personality: She is a sleazy, sleazy gal. She has no qualms about using her powers of suggestion to get people to do what she wants. She loves her children and doesn't want them to worry about her. She loves to share her poetry with anyone who is interested.

History: The child of eastern immigrants she idolized her mother. Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way north. Due to her spouse's obsession with being a Carter they were divorced and she won custody of their daughter. She worked as a Merchant, and she later adopted a second daughter.

Personality: A skeptical and narcissistic man, Ribbles's first love is himself. His second love is also himself. He is obsessed with a lost civilization.

History: Ribbles was born with his father's beautiful face. He found a children's book about a Gnome Commoner who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.

Personality: He seems absolutely devoid of it. He stares off into space and will respond with overly literal and minimalist answers to questions. His home and work are filled with various knick knacks he has acquired through the years. He cares a great deal for his adopted teenage daughter.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious southern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. He dropped out of school before completing his studies. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.

Description: This tall, slender woman wears many layers of old clothing at all times. She has dyed her greying golden hair a little too much giving a sharp golden color. Her violet eyes dart from person to person to random spaces in the air.

Personality: She shows great sympathy to all travelers. She's the type to buy drinks and listen to their stories. She does not believe in violence as a means to an end. She is a dedicated Seamstress but believes her peers are too gung-ho.

History: She was born in a small island village. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Merla grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Merla. She bought a hammer and has really upped her game hunting, due to her understanding of decoy and ambush.

Motivation: She will attempt to ambush and attack anyone she thinks she can take on alone and try to knock them out with non-lethal damage. If successful, she will try to sell them to her slave-trader contact.

Description: He is a pot bellied northern man with a big hulking figure and broad shoulders. He sports red clothing, slightly heavier than average wear. His white hair is thinning but still full. His eyes are amber and catlike.

Personality: Cocky and sure of himself, he believes he is the best Bookbinder born in the past three hundred years. He is stubborn though. He always likes to keep a trick up his sleeve. He likes to fight dirty and will kick and punch below the belt if he feels he even has a chance of losing.

History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. At a young age both his parents were killed in an accident. His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: To be a Spice Merchant again; and balancing his hectic life and new bookbinder responsibilities is difficult
