She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

She advanced relatively quickly due to her good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by illithids. Drenna was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the illithids.
