His mother being the stubborn sort decided to stay and helped train him in flail use. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: Many illithids want him driven away; and several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge

History: Balam hails from a village terrorized by orcs. In his 13th year, his parents were killed by a orcs raid, leaving Balam alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by orcs. Balam was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the orcs.

History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his mother and father. His mother taught him the rudiments of the Laborer arts, while his father instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.
