History: Aldous hails from a village terrorized by brigands. In his 16th year, his parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Aldous alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her mother always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Her mother was a mechanic, and taught her how to fix just about anything. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.
