History: Gale was raised in a hard working conservative environment. His father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He now mingles about in high society.

Motivation: He is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions; and he has decided he is irredeemable

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. In her 16th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Jheri alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.
