Her mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted her to inherit them. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Spice Merchant and was forced into it by her family; and her spouse's relatives view her with great suspicion

History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Bernard grew up listening to his mother's many stories. Cursed with a spirit at a very young age, Bernard has worked very hard to control his curse.
