History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when giants swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. Oppleby was born on a far southern island where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Cook. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: He has a rivalry with the Church that dominates his actions; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it
