One night he noticed a nearby shooting star which he hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Motivation: He feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world; and he wants random interesting trinkets and junk, hates to throw anything away

History: Heir to a fortune, his parents put a great deal of effort into curing his disease. Through the years after Cockaby was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Cockaby's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, Cockaby and his spouse have recently divorced.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. In his 15th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Zephan alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it; and several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge
