History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Varis was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature axe.

History: His arcane talent manifested at a young age. Aiming to upstage a rival house, his parents had him trained. After coming to the age of reason, Mamnen took it upon himself to study the arcane arts in their entirety; because of this, he was labeled a dark omen and banished from his homeland. He now owns his own business.

History: She got into the Sage business at a young age. She married young, but lost her spouse to orcs. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to orcs demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Balancing her hectic life and new Sage responsibilities is difficult; and her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by orcs, and she desires to right it
